Which setup station?
 

I'm starting to feel the need for a nice setup station for my baby.

But there are two really nice ones I have my eye on, the Hudy, and the Hard Racing H7105 (Used to be badged as Team Magic)

Is anyone better than the other?

Hudy works great I love it works great on buggys and truggys.

Hudy generally makes awesome products, I just didn't know what was the better of the two popular stations.

Go with the hudy 1/8th universal station, if you ever go the route of truggy you can buy the upper plate for it. I would not however recommend buying the hudy setup board. Its not quite big enough for a 1/8th buggy if you are going to buy one of those also. The team magic board is 100mm wider than the hudy and should work perfectly with a buggy.

You can see in the pic that the setup rigs are hanging off the side of the board.

I've got the Hudy too but no plate. I just use the kitchen table for now. In teh field I just use calipers and a simple camber gauge.
If your car has a lot of slop and is dirty the setup station is pretty much useless. Even a fairly fresh car can be tricky in my opinion. There's usually 2 deg slop in the steering anyway so toe can be a bit tricky to get right.

Yes I agree some setting can be tricky until you get use to it. Yes as you developed wear you have to take this in to consideration and compensate. I still keep a camber gauge handy. But as far as using caliper if I use then and make things equal on each side one side it is off no matter if I use the set up station or the camber gauge.

I know. It's kind of hit and miss sometimes. A slightly tweaked chassie changes everything too.
I don't think I'm a good enough driver to actually feel the difference between 1 and 2 deg camber for example. Toe settings is another thing. A half turn on a turn buckle changes everything. Sadly this is the setting I feel is the most difficult to get right.

To bad all kits I've had and still have always seems to have 'race slop' by default. Nothing is really tight even when brand new.

when i bought my matrix it was too tight, all the arms and everything were almost binding. but after break in everything got sliky smooth. and now i have slop lmao.

i'd say hudy. thats what i'd get.

Here is the [link=http://stores.ebay.com/RC-Setup]set up station[/link] I bought. Im hopen it will be in today, but with the mail not running on the 4th, it might not show up till tomarrow.
I bought one for my mbx5t and hopen it will also fit my sons revo. Keep you posted on how it works out.

how much did that run you, total?
cause the only thing holding me back from getting one is the outragous price, and i would only buy the hudy one because i know they mean quality.

Mine came in today, and for the price, cant be beat. I just wish it was friday so I can hit the track. m-racing.com is the web site, it only took 4 days to get here plus the sunday and the 4th, mail doesnt run those days. The case is cheap cardboard stuff but should hold up till it gets wet the it will go into its own little case.
Might check them out, I'll see if I cant post a few pics here in a few.

Either one is good...there are slight differences in them (the markings, and how you read them, etc) - I have the Team Magic one and it is great - you have no idea how far off your settings are until you get it on there...I used a level, camber gauge and calipers before I had the setup station...I was off on my settings by quite a bit (especially the camber). Night and day difference to drive it as well!

Me too, I thought I was close, was way off. Lets just say if I was shooting for *****, I wouldnt have gotten a wiff.

So true! They really do make a huge difference, unless you have an incredible knack for getting the settings close without one...I ran for a whole weekend at a private track (camped out, etc) with about 8 other guys who were all way more experienced with buggies and truggies then I...they drove my bug and every single one of them said it was simply the most dialed bug they had ever wheeled...4-5 of them used my setup station and were amazed at how much better their buggies handled (especially the increase in steering, stability, and increased traction). All buggies have slop in them, but I still firmly believe that a good setup station helps a lot

I really like mine, actually I like it a hair better than the Hudy one. BUT either one will work just fine. Most pros dont even use setup stations in offroad. Aaron Waldron and Drake use the coke can method. Set up a new coke can next to your tire, and look. Then compare to the other side. Try to make it equal. I just come from onroad so I like to know my setup is as good as I can make it....now to work on my driving... :-D

I just received a Team Magic Set up station for the 1/8 scale buggy. I will be using it for an X-ray XT8 but, as expected, the toe plate will not fit the XT8 as it is not wide enough. Do you have any idea where I might be able to purchase a Team Magic toe plate for a truggy? I see that you have the Hudy station as well. Could you check to see if the Huddy truggy toe plate would function appropriately on the Team Magic system? Thanks for your help.
