Help please Starter box problems

My startes box battery is giving me problems, please help. This is my second battery in the starter the first one I charged at to high of a rate and ruined it the second I thought I did everything right but now it won't take a charge. So my question is do these batterys always go bad so easily and is there any way to recover a bad battery???

The battery is a Gel type 12volt sealed battery from Hangar 9. The last battery was bought new in May or June of this year it was fine for a while but I haven't raced for about 2 months now and the battery just sat, when i went to charge it the other day it didn't seem to take a charge.

The reason this realy bugs me is because in my flight box I use a motorcycle battery and have been for 2 years now with no problems what so ever, I know the batterys are different but similar so why do these sealed batterys go bad so easy???

Thank you for any help or comments.

not sure, but is there not somthing like if those batts dont get used for a period of time the cells in them corrode or somthing?

i use 85 amp caravan leisure batteries for starter boxes and charging because they have thicker cells and so dont fail :)

You're double posting. Kinda makes it hard to answer and followup on your posts.

SLA batteries (sealed lead acid) take a special charger - an ordinary automotive charger will kill it.

What are you using to charge it?

Sorry about the double post but I kinda needed an answer before races today, and wasn't getting one.

Perhaps the morning of the race is a little too late.

Perhaps the morning of the race is a little too late.

It wasn't the morning of the race it was the day before. Just one more person who has to make an ASSumption without knowing all the facts.
