Thanks, I have a torque start currently on the back of the engine not a pull start. Do I need to replace this with a back plate or will it still work with the starter box?

It will still work, but you are betteroff just fiting the plain backplate.

you can get rid of useless weight and drag on your engine by getting the blank plate. Plus the part is only $10.00
