Xray question
 

I am going to be upgrading my sons buggy for the upcoming season and have been looking into the Xray. Pretty much everything I have read on these boards and in magazines have been very possitive when it comes to the quality and ease of building the Xray. My question is this, some things that I have read suggest that the Xray is (don't quote me) marketed and engineered towards the European market and tracks. Is there a difference between the tracks in Europe and the US and how RC cars are set up for each of them? Maybe I'm wrong or misinformed. Thanks for any help.

Just because he's heard about Xray quality, doesn't mean you can't try to sell him a losi, foamy. ;)

Chopped, the Xray's a great car and can be adapted to any circuit, the stock setup suits euro tracks that's all.

i know you said you were looking at an xray but try giving the OCM KAOS a look at the quality is just has good as the xray i have owned both so i am speaking from experiance and the support is very good.

Thanks guys. Its not that I am sold on any one particular car as of yet. I am still doing my research. I am very familiar with the Mugen, Losi, Hyper etc.. However, the Xray is standing out right now. The only downfall that I have seen is the lack of support at any of my LHS's. That really hasn't been a deterant for me as my son is currently running a Matrix and I have to get all my replacement parts online anyways. I have also heard good things about the OCM too. I was just curious as to what made the Euro tracks different than the U.S. tracks and what was has to be changed (if any) on the Xray as far as set up for U.S. tracks.

US tracks 'usually' have much larger jumps. One of the main complaints leveled at Xray buggies and truggies, is that the shocks could use a bigger bore. Euro tracks are usually more technical and involve less airtime, negating this need. That's all. If your track is not akin to a motoX track, you have nothing to worry about. Check out the euro 2007 finals for an example of a great euro track with almost no air, and requiring a very demanding technique.

There is a new XRAY buggy coming out tomorrow and that development did take the 'US style' tracks into account.
The name is XRAY XB808 (not sure about the XB part..... ;))

Thanks Foxy. Thats what I needed to know. The tracks I run at don't have much for large jumps so I'm guessing that the Xray can be dialed in for these tracks with different shock pistons and oil.

The new xray was designed with US tracks in mind as the track for this years worlds is a typical US track so the new car will handle the bumps very well which is the key for a car in the US i would hang on for a bit and get the new xray.

The Farm II is actually very smooth and slick to drive on. At least the time I raced there.
The jumps are big but forgiving.

I didnt see anything saying the new xray was coming out tommorow. It is probably still months off.

The Farm II can be very smooth at times, but it depends on the weather...the weather in the part of the country the Farm is located is unpredictable and can be a mess. plus the track is clay...which means heavy rains can reak havic on it. Also the Farm has a lot of big jumps...I think the new xray will do much better with it's new big bore shocks. I also think the new Kyosho will look a lot like the Losi as well

I love my Losi and if support for the Xray was greater here in the States I would definitly buy one...looks like it will handle just as well as the Losi but Xray is Known for their quality parts.

The new buggy looks great, but I dont expect it to be out until probably april. Even then I would wait a few months if I bought one to see what the problem areas are.
