Well i got my buggy running again and is great. I got a fuel filter and alot of fuel tubing. My clutch bell fell off though.lol. Hopefully ill have my pro parts in by tommarow and im racing saturday night. |
Official Storm Thread!!!
Well, i raced last night and did ok. 7 out of 11 in the main. but only did 1/2 race. Dead glowplug and bad pit crew dont go togeather. I have no low end but that should change soon.

|
Official Storm Thread!!!
that track look sgood for st's, but 1/8th scale? looks a bit small....i tihkn it hass too many jumps too. jmo....im still very jealous that you even have a track.
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
I like it, and yeah, its small for 1/8 but hey, it still works. Its funny though the tmaxxes destory the track. This past weekend, one moded out tmaxx was jumping on the triple and it didnt clear all of them and went nose first into the 3rd hill, and took a 6 x 6 inch chunk of dirt out!! I hope they refunish it. Hey todd you should come down for our Tumbleweed Classic it's the last week of sept. they make it all nice for that.
Dont you have tracks up there in CO, they should have some awsome offroad track. |
Official Storm Thread!!!
They are just building the very first outdoor NITRO track here in Denver Colorado! Its called Rat Raceway. They are only open saturdays so far, and two tuesdays a month for the "Tmaxx freaks" meeting. I was there last weekend and helped build the very first 3 sets of doubles (they just finished laying down the topcoat for the track base). The guy running the track is super cool, and the area the track is has major potential, plenty of parking area, fairly large track, allready fenced in, the owner of the track personally owns the land, etc. Also he isnt cutting any corners and brought in 72,000 pounds of screened fill dirt to make the track proper. You can look at pictures of the track construction at MSN groups "ratraceway". I am not involved with the Tmaxx freaks, but was happy to donate $ to help them get a banner to get their club started. I am super excited about a cool place to run my buggy without getting chased off now though! Except now my radio is in for repairs just as the track is being finished. :(

Official Storm Thread!!!
Ive had a gs storm for about a year, its a great buggy, but stock it doesnt keep up very well with the "big boys", so i ended up installing a picco p21 g1 pro-xp, and a picco pipe, now the "big boys" cant keep up with me. I reccomend th bugy to anyone who wants to have fun, but for racers, your going to need hop-ups.
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
If i need to change the piston and sleeve,is it worth it to do to a stock gs motor or just get something else, and do you need any special tools,my friend has an ofna with an 8 port and i think my gs is a little faster, certainly more low end so I would rebuild mine before i bought one of those supposed big hp ofnas
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
he, if you like the stock engine stay with it, but your better off just buying a new engine, mine broke and i replaced it with a picco .21 g1 pro-xp and pipe and no one can keep up with me!!
you might need just basic tools. how much would you be willing to spend on a new 1?? |
Official Storm Thread!!!
i have a storm and want to change it for a Mugen MBX5. the shock towers must be replaced and i find it impossible to run the engine less than 290 degrees. a friend of mine had the hyper standard engine and it ran a lot better but im not convinced by the hyper 7 handling. what is a good engine?
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
go with, picco .21 sport is ok for beginers, picco .21 comp is good,
and the picco .21 g1 pro-xp is the SH**T!!! i put one in my storm and its hard for people to keep up with me, if your on a budget get the sport or go with an o.s. .21 gp go to www.osengines.com |
Official Storm Thread!!!
i was thinking of Hyper 8 port as cheap and some owners rave about it. in the UK the RB WS2 seems to be most popular. just a question of money!!! how much is the pro xp?
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
269.00 at acehardwarehobbies, but they r the most costly that i know of, if u do your homework, you can probly get it cheaper.
the ws2 is a good engine, i had 1, but the picco is easier to tune, and idle's better plus has 2.4 hp, wht more could you want?? need help just let me know. |
Official Storm Thread!!!
Ill spend enough to not get passed on the straigts,i can spank the ofna on turns,I built a large dirt oval on my property,I had 3 dump trucks drop dirt just for one of the very large and steeply banked turn, onecw you get hooked into the crown of this 40 ft turn you can run wide open how ever fast that is,but toy have to do it right, even thoe the bank is over 4ft tall you can still get over the egde
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
alright than ge a picco .26, awsome power, just you have to have really good tuning skills, its not that simple to tune.
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
that sounds like good advice especially as the rb is more expensive. what pipe do you recommend?
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
ill just go faster and crash faster!!!
|
Official Storm Thread!!!
i run mine with a picco pipe, but if you want better performance go with an rb pipe, like the one i have.
RB pipe (EFRA-9886) |
Official Storm Thread!!!
I run the stock engine with aftermarket engine head. The stock motor is great for my track and i plan on buying another one after this one dies. Im only on my second gallon and i dont know how much longer it will last. I keep up with the big boys fine, even on the straigt away.
