Rims?
Thinking of changing rims. Anyone use J Concepts rims? Good? Bad? Thanks!

RE: Rims?
eh, most rims are the same....i've noticed the cheaper the wheel, the easier they are to shatter

RE: Rims?
www.Nitrohouse.com has some killer deals on rims (and no I dont work for them or own the site, etc and its not advertisement).

RE: Rims?
I heard to stay away from Advantage rims. Supposed to be really wek.

RE: Rims?
Yo Jerz...what's wrong with the ones you're using now? Any issues?

RE: Rims?
Nothing wrong with the Prolines. My Proline Hole Shot tires have about one more race left on them. I dont have patience with boiling them off and using the rims over again. I actually changed my mind. I ordered Kyosho slotted rims, and J Concept Cross Hair tires. Getting away from expensive Proline stuff.

RE: Rims?
I've run Proline and the Advantage rims. Proline is definitely proud of their wheels (expensive) but the hex area is pretty beefy as are the spokes. The Advantage rims are about half the price, but the hex area is not nearly as beefy and the spokes a definitely thinner. I did manage to get a hairline crack in the bead area too. I would say that on high-bite tracks, the Advantage rims wouldn't hold up well; spun hexes; tweaked spokes, but for the loamy, loose tracks I run on, they're acceptable. Dish-style wheels may fair better.
I've never run JC wheels, but they're a reputable company and I would imagine their stuff would hold up quite well and is a good compromise between the expensive Proline and the bargain basement Advantage stuff. Never run Kyosho either. Just don't like the look of the slotted wheels. Although, since when did "looks" win a race? :) |
