Diff oils?

I was at the track today and it seemed like my buggy was getting more power in he rear than the front. I would like to make it more even so my tail will stop fishtailing even at partial throttle. Anyone have any ideas? I think I need to change the center diff oil but not sure whether to go up or down.

RE: Diff oils?

I run heaver oil in the front then the rear which helps the front to pull harder.

I still have the stock oils 5000-7000-1000 in there but I want the front to get more of the power that the rear is getting.

Because the power struggle is between the front and rear, you need to adjust the meeting point...Center diff. Lighten the oil in the center diff if you want the front to have more power than the rear. Be aware that too light an oil can make the front end "diff out" and loose traction in places like the straightaway for example. I don't think that doing anything to the front and rear diffs would help your problem.

Depending on the track I normally run 5K-7K-2K or 5K-5K-2K.

increase rear camber angle, more toe-in, heavier rear sway bar, different tires, all a lot easier than changing oils, but if you must, those seem heavy for me, try 3/5/1 or 3/3/1 and see if the rear stays put.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

hey you wish you had the Turmoil right? Is the center diff hard to take out? Ive only done work on my revo so I dont know much about buggy parts, but I think Im going to decrease the center diff to 5000 and see what happens.

When is the last time you went through the diffs and replaced the oils ?

Ive only ran it maybe 6 times since I got it in the spring. No more than an hour each time. I plan on racing next summer but right now Im trying to learn to jump and figure out how to setup an rc.

yea the center diff was easy to take out and take apart. the first time you take it apart and put it back together, you might want to have your manual handy so you dont put it back together wrong.

Try simple stuff first. Rear degree/anti squat- shock holes upper and lower. I like the rear end of the car to skate or drift around the turn, 2.5 degree and a 3 degree anti squat. Oils are 772. Try the 2 degree rear toe and see what happens, bet youll see better results, rear wheels will fallow the front ones better.
Shorter wheel base. Just tryn to save a few bucks, in and out on the diff cases wears plastic out fast.

Nascar that was probably the most proffesional advice I could of been given but unfortunatley I didnt understand most of it.lol I know what the terms mean but not sure how to change anti squat. Toe in I go but not the other stuff but I have a few rccaraction magazines that I remember them expaining that stuff so between that and searching the internet Ill figure it out. Thanks for the input. I never would of thought RC's would have been so technical.

Yea they can drive you nuts sumtimes. Just make sure to change one thing at a time and write down what it was. That way you can always look back and see what your was running. I always write down best lap times, track prep, temp, and what set up im using so then I know whats works best. Turmoils are simply to do but like youwish said first time might want to look at the manuel. Trust me sucks having to tear back down to fix a screw up lol. I ran 7-5-2 in my turmoil and worked great. Hope this helps a little bit
