Is it possible to rust-proof a buggy?

Other than stainless steal screws....how about the CV's, dogbones, the whole lot!

thanks!

Problem with stainless steel is that its kinda weak,

When your done running, use an air compressor to blow off the dustyness then spray down with WD40

rockinro gives good advice on the clean-up process after running. Clean it up and you're good to go for years that way. Heck, by the time one of your buggies rusted to the point of no return, you'll be retired and buggies will be running on carbon dioxide and exhausting oxygen.:D

What I'm curious about is that you want a rust-proof buggy, and yet, you live in Dubai; the desert :) Unless you plan on running on the beach? I'd stay the hell away from the salt water if it were me :)

You're forgetting ball bearings. That's where the real problem lies when it comes to rust.

It is like anything if you maintain it properly should not be a problem. I all ways clean mine well after a day at the track. I pull the engine, wheels, fuel tank and wing. I blow it off with compressed air then spray it down with denatured alcohol and blow it of with compressed air again. Then service it.

K_B I run the buggy only on the track, but the thing about the desert sand here is that it's high in alkalines (salts)...thus everything rusts. One outting with the buggy and everything is rusted. The sad thing is that I always go over the buggy with a compressor, I wipe it down with WD40 later that evening (sometimes the next day), and yet rust is everywhere.

I guess the only fool-proof method is to wipe with WD immediately after use...just thought there's a more convenient way than disassembling everything and cleaning it asap.

Thanks guys for your input...appreciated as always.

I can't remember what it's called off the top of my head, but you might want to check at a boat shop for some sort of rust preventative. In my younger days, I used to use something on my mountain bike (had "VOLVO MARINE" printed on it) that worked well. My dad used to get mad as hell because the stuff was apparently expensive; but it worked like a charm.
