what buggy to get
 

OK I'm fairly new to rc cars and i was thinking of selling my nitro sport and buy a buggy. but I'm not sure which buggy to buy I'm looking to spend under 350 and have it run on nitro. i have a track at my friends farm so all I'm going to be doing with it is jumping i don't really care about top speed and the track that i have is not clay.

About a pound to heavy for a great racer but sturdier than most is the [link=http://www.xtm-dealer.com/x-terminator%20.html]XT2[/link]. Engine is easy to tune and I haven't seen any U-tube vidio on anything that will jump farther. On the track it will hold its own and a heck of a good starter / learner buggy [:-]

i took a look at the xt2 real impressed from what I've seen. i just have 2 questions how would you compare the durability to the Losi 8ight. and could i still use my 1800 7.2 easy start with the xt2.

the 8ight is a race maching...the XT2 is a rtr turd imo......there's nothing remotely close you could compare the 2 on.

For out of the box racing the 8 does have the advantage but durability I wouldn't give even a close race for the money [:-] as for the starter I'm not sure but I don't think so because the motor is different but the battery isn't and it will work with the sure start ;)

I'm inclined to agree.

The best buggy for that money i reckon is the hyper 7. you'd still have some change for a few upgrades out of $350 too, such as a receiver pack, tyres or put some money towards a decent steering servo.

i looked at the hyper 7 and their about the same price as the xt2. but the thing is i'm more worried about durability since i have a dirt bike i'm going to be tempted to jump some of the big jumps so would you say that the xt2 is more durable compared to the hyper 7. and also how hard would it be to get part for both buggy's from a local hobby store and are both buggy's fairly easy to fix for a beginner.

The Hyper 7 will be a LOT more durable. Infact the hyper is about the most durable buggy available.
Spares at your LHS depends on what they stock i'm afraid, but go and type hyper 7 in ebay, then do the same with XT2 and I think you'll get your answer.
I would say all buggies are the same to work on, as they all follow the same basic design.

If all your going to do is bash around with it, there is no sense in spending the money on a premium race bred platform, having said that-go with an RTR.

Is that something you put in your mouth? Its fine to have your opinion but you don't have to be nasty about it [>:] and you have no credibility to make you good enough to come up with a summation about anything. Really gets old all you guys with big blubbering mouths that haven't even owned but 1 or maybe 2 RC's. Anyone with any class or real knowledge doesn't have to put down another model to get there point accross [sm=punching.gif]

Take a look at the Caster Racing ZX1-R RTR. Very durable buggy also and just over the $400 mark. You will like it.

I hate to hijack this thread, but there is no point in starting a new one. I'm looking to get a ofna lx one, or a ravager, I'm having trouble deciding between the two. Does anyone here have either or could you guys offer some input to help me decide? I've also been looking at the violater 9.5 is it a good built buggy?

Both are RTR junk.....i wouldn't touch either with a 10ft pole.

Well that wasn't very helpful..... I'm not a racer, I'm just a basher. I've only got a 1/10 truggy. This 1/8 will only be my 2nd rc. Anyway, does anyone have anything helpful to say????

brett get a hyper7 over either of those two,also get the .21 engine version..its better than that 28 macstar.hope this helps

... INTEGRA has no credibility now? even though He is right, and a very knowledable and respectable RC'er.

He sure saved my buns recently and i would question anyone who questions his integrity!

And for your information The 8ight is a race machine and XT2 is not in the same league, maybe its a good car..but i know by looking at it its nothing compared to the 8ight.

Now i think the best learner car is the hyper 7. It is as tough as old boots, spares for it seem to grow on trees, and in the hands of a good driver it's a fast buggy.

Well now I'm really confused on which to buy. I wasn't even considering the hyper 7, but if it's a better buggy than the others I mentioned above then I guess I need to put it on the list. So the .21 is better than the .28? What about acceleration and top end? Is there much of a difference between the two?

the 21 is just as fast on acceleration and top speed as the macstar28,but it is much easier to tune and uses less fuel.

.21 is better on everything, Acceleration, Top end, Tuning, Reliability, Durability, Fuel Economy.

Really? Like I said I'm still pretty much a beginner, I've only had my 1/10 since October, but it has definetly got me to loving nitro. Now I can't wait to get into the 1/8 scene. Thanks guys. If anyone else has some suggestions, I'm all ears.......

Guy's, it's like this.

In this hobby, you really do GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR.

Those $300 cars are that price for a reason.

If you just want to bash, then get yourself a monster truck of some sort and be done with it.

The $300 range buggies are intended to do one thing.

Get you hooked on racing, so you will buy a $600 buggy and $400 or more in support equipment.



As far as statements made by others about Integra........

You should be a little more careful about who you go 'slapping' around on here.
Integra is one of those guys that has already forgotten more about this stuff than most will ever know.
I know that he has saved me lots of time and $$$$/Headache, without even knowing it, just by posting his "no credibility-opinions"
He's just a very direct person, thats all.

Not that I want to see that smile of his get any smugger, I just thought it was worth pointing out.;)


If you are smart enough to ask a question on here (because thats what this place is for) then you should be prepared for ALL opinions, negative and positive.

If you can't handle negative opinions, then grow some thicker skin or don't post.



BTW, I only own 1 Radio Shack RC and have only been doing this for a short while...........[sm=drowning.gif][sm=lol.gif][sm=lol.gif]
