RE: Top of the line buggy engine?

Average run time in my 8ight E is about 23 minutes. So if you have the average 15 minute mains, you can make them with ease. ;) As for power, no nitro motor can even hold a candle to a brushless conversion. So if you want it to be fast, NOTHING COMES CLOSE. ;) It makes club level racing ALLOT more fun. While the nitro guys are tuning, warming up, swapping glow plugs, dealing with starter boxes, and pit men etc... I just drop my car on the track, and calmly climb the driver's stand. I don't miss the noise, it merely reminds me of how much of a P.I.T.A. a nitro mill can be. I'm a pretty good tuner, and I STILL help the nitro guys when they get mystified as to why their engine won't run right. A tiny air leak can make even the BEST nitro motor run like crap... brushless doesn't have that issue. In fact, once you get your setup right, you can pretty much just play with the settings and your driving line until you're happy. ;) Also, once you drive a brushless car, nitro is just plain slow, and unresponsive. You really have to be ahead of the game to get a nitro to be fast. An electric needs minimal run up to a pretty much any jump, and will OVER-JUMP if you aren't careful. Basically, 1/8 throttle on a brushless car, is around 2/3s to full throttle on a nitro. The biggest problem I had, was I kept slinging tires right off the rims! Lipo technology is to a point where its VERY easy to deal with. You simply plug the battery in at the end of each race, and you're ready for the next one... that's IT! So convenient, so fast, there is no substitute. Brushless is faster, easier, and allot more fun. If you race at a place where it's not allowed, give it 6 months.... it will be. :D

Sorry dude, but you're just being obnoxious. I don't like electric. You do, and that's fine. But when you electric people start winging around these presumptious comments like "electric is the future whether you like it or not..", I'm like.. "no...., I'll sell all my RC stuff and take up bird-watching before I spend a fortune on lipos, chargers, etc... to go out and be underwhelmed by a silent, ultimately boring RC, however fast it is.."

Electric is an option in RC, and it's not for everybody. I personally find it mind-numbingly lame.. I don't care how fast it is. No screaming high RPM's, smoke, and all the excitement that that brings. Of course I don't expect everybody else to agree with me, and I don't mean offense to those who do like electric. There are lots of guys who love 1/10 elo or even nitro on-road RC, and that's not for me either.. I hate cherry ice cream and salt and vinegar pototo chips too.. No offense to those who like that stuff, but it would be ridiculous of me to tell everybody else that MY flavor was the future of ice cream or potato chips....

Can someone give me the link to the clock work modified??? Also are they legal in races??? I don't know much about engine mods srry.
Anything thing that can compete with the clockwork modified?

Contact Neal aka Supertib on this forum. He is THE man. I have a Clockwork Jammin' JPX .21 & Clockwork Picco P3 .28 and can say his motors are no joke. The only other "high-end" motors that I have experience with are a Hot Modded Novarossi 21-5kt, Hot Modded 821b & Mugen JX21 and the Clockwork Jammin' will whoop up on all of em' everywhere in the powerband. My Clockwork jpx21 will definately be the benchmark that I use to compare all my future engines! Besides the excellent work and CUSTOMER SERVICE, he's a real cool guy to talk to as well. He will give you unbiased info on pretty much any motor that you have questions about. A++

Nitro CAN'T do THIS, with or without any noise:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKUWlWDqP3Q

So for all of you hooked on "Sounds", it's cool, if that does it for you. Some of us are more interested in Performance, and don't care whether it makes enough noise or not. :)

Oh yeah... that Incredible Power and Performance... how BORING! All the spare time and money you end up with on race day, yeah, that sux! All that sitting around, eating pizza, playing with my setup. All while the nitro guys frantically scramble to get their car just to RUN so they can race... but then... WHOOPS, air leak, bad glow plug, hole in your fuel line, hell, just PICK one problem, and motor no go, you miss the race. Yup, that sux.

Electric would be more fun, because it's MORE powerful, and wouldn't flame out like that. ;)

The original poster was looking for Maximum Power. Brushless is more powerful than nitro, so I mentioned the option.

supertib 05-13-2009 10:26 AM

RE: Top of the line buggy engine?

you did much more then mention BL dude...... the way all you BL guys are going on I am starting to hate BL

FYI my nitros have taken down several BL machines already, I do know a full blown BL is faster but many of the track setups are no beating my nitros.... Hers what one of my modded Nitros can do

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svbaqFOW_5Q

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6sk_GTRpa_U

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VGSSyKE3MEE

So unless you have a really badass BL setup your going to be sucking dust chasing one of my engines.......besides any track we have beed to ( and that is many) BL are not pulling faster lap times.... sure they look cool doing standing backflips but all that power does you zero good on a track.......

BL is great for guys who don't understand how to tune Nitro, but its definitely not the be all end all of RC....IMHO BL is rather sucky, sure they are fast, but other then that they suck ....

supertib 05-13-2009 10:29 AM

RE: Top of the line buggy engine?

my nitros never flame out, rarely need glowplugs and run like a raped ape day in and day out.... My divers have collected trophies all over North America at both club level and national level races...... Just because you have some flashlight setup doesn't mean your going to cleanup on all the nitros............. As i say if you want to talk about BL start your own thread.......... Your preaching BL worse then the bible thuumpers who go door to door preaching their religeon, its annoying and nobody really wants to hear it !

Sounds like somebody has a chip on his shoulder against nitro, presumably because he could never figure out how to tune, take care of, and run a nitro engine.... Describing your own experiences there chief? Whatever the case, maybe I should start butting into brushless threads and telling everybody there how lame it is to watch action movies on mute..

Mmm.., nnooo.... That would be ridiculous... [X(]

If I couldn’t tune and my mom said I couldn’t bring that nasty smelling thing in to the house! I guess I to would be running and preaching the BL gospel. Amen brother, glory be they BL

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my nitro he wont take;
When in the morning light I wake,
Teach me the path of nitro tuning,
And not to be a brushless fake.

RE: Top of the line buggy engine?

Hmm, seems I struck a nerve... It's ok, I'm sure the old guys that ran Steam Engines were ticked about the Diesel Electric trains eating their lunch. It's ok, Nitro still has it's appeal, and isn't going anywhere too soon. You don't have to throw a fit and make rediculous claims about nitro being faster... because it's not. BL is faster, whether you like it or not. It's also MUCH easier to deal with, cleaner, and has many many benefits. It's cool that you enjoy dealing with them. I used to as well, and made many of the same comments that you are now.... then I converted my car. You're right that a faster car won't win you the race. But you can't even race if your nitro doesn't run. :)

The original post was in search of a "Top of the Line" engine, and he said in no uncertain terms, he wanted MAXIMUM POWER. Well, BL is MORE powerful than even the GREATEST most heavily Modded nitro engine on Earth, and its STILL easier to deal with. :)

supertib 05-13-2009 11:21 AM

RE: Top of the line buggy engine?

listen Mr. Preacher we are not interested in your silly religeon, so please stop trying to force it down our throats...We are not interested in hearing it, please go start your own thread and then you can preach to anyone willing to listen.......JUst because you couldnt get nitro to work doesn't mean the rest of us are having the same issues.....as I already said BL is great for the guys who dont know how to tune Nitro...but for the rest of us Nitro is a total blast and nowhere near the hasles that you experienced......

I agree some BL are faster, but not every BL is..... sure some crazy 6S sytem in a 1/8 is wicked, but most guys at the tracks are running much more conservative sytems !

Plese post a video of your own badass BL system in action, the way your talking it should just whoop all over the videos I posted....As I say seeing is beleiving and a video is the easiest way to convince people... I have nothing against BL, i think its neat, but honestly I would take a fast nitro any day over a faster BL..... IMHO the BL setups are for little girls who dont like to get dirty..just like I will take a good old Muscle car over some goofy tuner ricer car....
