Default AirSled

Hello everyone,
This isn't an airboat (yet, until I put floats on it) but I thought y'all might like to see it and some poor quality video on snow.

Thanks for the comments guys. The motor is a .46 Thunder tiger with a gms pipe. The skis are
about 24 inches long and from outer ski edge to outer ski edge is about 25 inches. The skis are
3 inches wide made of coroplast and aluminum. I took a 90 degree angle aluminum piece and hammered it flat to put on the bottom of the skis. When it was hammered flat it left a little keel in the middle which helps it go straight a little better. I had a problem with the skis catching and flipping it over until someone told me to bend the legs so the skis outer edge is up a little bit. That helped a lot. Weight is about 5 and a quarter lbs. I wanted to build something that the wind wouldn't flip like my airboats sometimes do.

Looks cool~

Maybe some weight low on the ski's near the CG will keep it from flipping so easy. Looking at the pic, does seem to look top heavy. Can be fixed in a jiff with some weights though.

Just curious here .... how high up is the engine from the ground , verses how high up the prop is from touching the ground ? Looks like you gots LOTS of room there from the picture .

BTW - NICE idea and vids ... [8D]

Thanks TERBO. There is 4 inches clearance under a 10 inch prop. The prop in the pic is 9 inches.
I don't want to go longer then 10 inches because then the cage doesn't protect the prop. I also don't want to go less then 4 inches clearance to avoid hitting drifts. Actually I'm pretty happy with the way it handles now it's really a lot of fun.

looks cool- snow boatin is a blast. I would call that something more like a skiplane. Nice job !
Winters can get a little long -its nice to get out and burn a little nitro and get some fresh air too.

Yeah ... but this time of year , sometimes getting those little boogers ( engines ) to pop off can be a mother ...... [&o][&o][&o][&o][&o]
hard on the glowies too .... [&o]
believe me , I know . Went thru three glows today running my little airboat . Bummer ....
