Default Surface Radios versus airplane radios

Greetings

Can someone tell me If an airplane radio system works in a Airboat. I’ve heard that is mandatory to use a surface radio. If so, I’ve got to buy one[&:]. I’ve got a Futaba 7C airplane radio, and I think is possible to use this radio to control a surface model. Please answer-me, because I’m very confused [:@].

Best Regards

Daniel

Both can be used. Surface two channel is the norm and is also cheaper. Air radio have more channels and will cost more. Why spend the extra money when you only use two servos.

Yes, you can you an airplane radio for surface but....FAA regulations says that is illegal.

My advice is to use surface for surface and air for air. Everyone is happier this way. This keeps you from crashing someones plane while you are running your airboat.

Model kid,
I see that you are in Portugal. You need to check with whoever has authority over radio comm in your country. Here in the U.S. we use 75 band for surface use , 72 band for air use and 27 for both, but 27 has very limited distance ability when compared to the other 2. Hope this helps. Best to ya!!!

So... is just a case of laws.

I want to buy a surface radio, but if my 7C can do the work why spend 100€ on a brand new. For now, I am going to use the Futaba, and some day, (not very far I hope) I will buy a 2 channel surface radio system.

Best Regards and thank you 4 answer
