A beautifull job.. without a doubt! I need to ask though..those rivets you used are called blind rivets or pop rivets they are easy to use just put em in agun stick em in the hole and pull the handle...but they have a shaft inside of them that breaks off and just rattles around inside the rivet which brings up my concern..first radio interferance from all the rattling metal...and second they arent water tight with all of them in there it looks cool as all get out and I love that look but im worried its gonna leak like a sieve on ya..you mentioned frog spit on the bottom to smooth it up were you going to coat the sides as well to seal all the rivets???just curiouse id hate to see ya throw it in and then have disaster strike from either radio issues or water....Where did you get the plans for this???I have a 4 by 8 sheet of the same aluminum in the garage I might try my hand at it kooks way good
Hey srw1960, the rivits shaft that breakes in half is wedged in the rivit itself, so out of almost 1400 rivits not one of them rattles. I will paint the whold boat with a sealing primer that is applied to full size deckovers. I believe it's called steelflex 2000. After thats applied I will paint it and then frog spit the bottom. No plans, just winged it! I've got $15 in aluminum and 3 boxes of rivits@$12. I had all the building supplies.

Nice to see you back at it Caylen17. Hope the foot surgery went o.k. That boat is looking great. If you are interested I will be going to Ocala soon. If you are let me know. I would be interested in seeing you run your boat when you get it done too. Dennis

The rivets wont be a problem as long as the boat gets on a plane.

Welcome back Caylen17. I hope your foot is better now. Did you finish your boat yet? I've been meaning to go by Loughmans Lodge but I keep forgetting(old age). I was going to see if anyone there had seen you since you've been gone for a while. We are still doing the Ocala run every third sunday of the month so when you are ready to go let me know. We are also running in Titusville or P.S.J. almost every saturday. We might set up a meet in this area soon if we can find the right place. Dennis

Sorry guys, my dog ate the spool gun wires and haven't be able to afford a new one. In the mean time I have been working on a golf cart and it has taken up most of my time. I'm really anxious to get it finished and come run with the rest of these fast step hulls. I have located another spool gun and will have acess to it so I can finish my cage, and get it on the water.
