Default MY SI3G - Nitro's Revenge

I am building this boat as a tribute to Mike "Nitro" Strouse who passed earlier this year.

This is an SI3G Kit with a Stihl 56CC converted to run on GAS/GLOW.
She will swing a 18" to 21" prop. Weight as shown is 15lbs +/- a lb.
RTR will be about 18lbs. dry.

Thats one big boat. You are going to have to trade the Lexus in for a truck. Hey, where is the fuel tank going.

One awsome sized airboat, That will take a large pond to
perform in.
I have a weed whacker moter I want to build a airboat
for. Has anyone tried mount the motor in the hulland
belt drive the prop, that would drop center of gravity,
and wind resistance. Any Ideas?

I've seen full size airboats with belt drive before. Don't see why it would not work the only problem you might run into is weight. Prop shaft , belt, and belt tensioner would all add up unless you have it machined from aluminum that might save some weight.

Video is a little shaky, but these were the best runs of the day after stripping a rudder linkage, dunking the motor, leaking from all three sponsons. Still had a good time. There is still some tuning and prop testing to do before we check top end speed.

Thanks to Andy for having the metal file that got us back in business for the last run in this vid.

For all the bugs that had to be worked out, it really got up and went on that last run. There is definitely more rpm's in that motor to be had. Can't wait to see the next run. Stay on it!

I don't think my speed record for the SI3G will hold for much longer. [:@] I think unofficially, you beat it already.

Thanks Crispy ! Still have a few issues to work on and a couple of props to test. Maybe next time we can get a GPS on it and find out what its running.
