Default FIRST AIR BOAT

This is my first try at building an rc airboat. It is made from 1-1/2 thick blue foam that has been laminated together and covered in fiberglass cloth and epoxy resin. The overall dimensions are 41" long x 23" wide.Approximate weight should be around 21-22#.Power is supplied by a 27cc CY motor.Paint should be done this week with more pictures to come.

......and this is your first build? You are a natural. I was wondering how you were planning on attaching the engine and cage.

All of the bolt on components(engine stand, cage, electrical box) are attatched to threaded alluminum plates that have been let into the foam and epoxied in place. The fiberglass is over this. You can see the plates on the components in some of the pictures.

Don your boat looks GREAT. Greygoose 81 has let me know that it would not be long before it will be ready to run. Keep up the good work.

Your engine mount, did you have it anodized and dyed?

The engine stand and prop adapter are anodized in blue.Unfortunately the material the stand is made out of is not the best for anodizing. The prop adapter is a much crisper blue.

I was finally able to get some pictures of the boat when running. This was my first time driving anything remote controlled and have had a blast trying to learn. In response the steering question by Bumpinyota, the steering is comprised of two pneumatic cylinders that have been modified to run fluid in them.
