Just curious here - kind of off topic
 

Ok , I was just wondering , since they kind of go hand in hand , in a way :D ( both using air to propell them :D ).
Has anybody made any ice - sail boats ( with either skis or blades or even wheels ) ?
I am going to try my hand at making one with skis this winter out of spring steel and aluminum . ( spring steel for the rear axles and aluminum for the main frames )
Just trying to find out , what sizes you made . I am thinking of going with a 57 inch width , and a 45 inch length . Sail size , I am not quite sure yet .... estimated weight is around 4 to 6 pounds ...
Any input would be appreciated . ( pictures and , or consturction specs and how she performs would be super also ! )

You are talking SAIL type, right?

I have not seen any types of plans for this in all my years. The closest thing I have seen, with some type of plans, is an actual Motor powered ICE BOAT. Very simular to what we run on the water, but a different type of hull specifically set up to run on ice, metal hull with blade runners and all. The motor is set up just like a swamp buggy.
If interested, I can track down where I saw it and let you know.

Thanks PRO , and yes , I was referring to the sail type with no motor except of course unless you refer to the servos :) .
Just a thought to see if anyone has done one and also maybe throwing out an idea to those who have lakes and /or parks who have noise limits .
Gonna see if I can't get one done before winter ends .

Well, I heard that if you use the digital High Speed Servos, they make everything go faster:D:D Including your money.

Try explaining to the other half this reasoning and watch the confusion set in[sm=spinnyeyes.gif]

From what I have read in some reviews for sailboats, what you are planning to use seems about right. Though some of the smaller boats have used just std servos for both. I guess it depends on actual size of your project.
IMO, as far as servos go, you can never have too much torque! Never know when you may need it....

( if you wrap it up, tag it to yourself, put her name on it as to 'from', act really surprised when you find it under the tree and be overaffectionate, she'll be too embarrased to ask about it)[sm=lol.gif]
