Hooked

I've been modeling since 1934 but got my first airboat, a Windy, a few months back. Cursed that thing every day I tried to build it per the Dumas instructions. A new OS .10 isn't the easiest thing to figure out either and I got my first engine in '36. Then I got it finished and on the water. Still building aircraft and sailboats but look forward most to running the Windy. I now have another Windy kit that will have a larger engine (.15) and a kit for the big swamp buggy.
If you want to get even with someone, for anything, let him run your airboat and he too will be hooked and begin to evade his responsibilities just to get down to the pond with his airboat and watch it go while he hatches plans for another one, only larger.
Gotta go out to the shop now and finish up a couple of airplanes so I can start my two new kits.

Sounds like Ballgunner has the Fever and is passing it around! :D:D

Not only is it economical but very family oriented. My son (7 yrs) is always in the shop with me and he loves to run them even more. Which adds a little extra excitement for me....quality family time!

Happy Building!!

btw---do you think a .46 is to big for a 23" hull?

RE: Hooked

Yes, you could even use a .40 size engine.

RE: Hooked

My Windy is 23" and the .10 makes it go really well. I am, however, building a new one with a .15. I will soon begin a Big Swamp Buggy that will have a .46. One of our local airboaters has a Big Swamp Buggy with a .54 four stroke. I know my new .46 has more power than his old Enya but his goes pretty well. I'll give it a try but build it so I can move up to a .52 or a .60. If my Windy is anything to measure by a .46 on a 23" hull is way too big. I'd go for a .25 but a lot depends on the design of the hull.

Here is a 24" cajun gator with the roll cage, pusher set up, running on the ground. would not put anything larger than the .46 on your hull.
