Default Need help finding electronics and drivetrain for my boat

I am building a model Pirogue (for Lewis and Clark in social studies) and I want to RC it when I am done with it in class. It is about 23 inches long by 6 wide by 4 inches tall. It has balsa wood ribs with balsa wood planks. Very lightweight. I was thinking to avoid cutting lots of holes it it I could set it out like a Thai river boat with the motor high up on the back with a long shaft going into the water. Please tell me if these electronics and drivetrain will work.
I was looking at these electronics:
ESC: http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...products_id=77
Motor:http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...roducts_id=256
Radio: Probably traxxas radio, but I am open to suggestions
Servo: Waterproof car servo

And this drivetrain:
Motor mount:http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...roducts_id=131
Shaft:http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...roducts_id=293
Prop:http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...roducts_id=358

I need ideas for steering. I was thinking of putting the motor on some sort of turntable (any ideas of how to make on?).
Would all of this work? I am new here. And I am very much open to suggestions on layout also. I was thinking of putting the motor on a flat triangular plate that covers that area between the last rib and the rear end.

And thanks for the help

This is how the Thai boats are set up:

I don't think Lewis and Clark had internal combustion engines or propellers.

Perhaps you need to work up some paddlers...

Yeah, I know they didn't

But I am going to make it RC after it has been turned in and graded. I couldn't bear to leave such a boat just sitting on the shelf.

And the paddlers look really cool, and hard to make. Once I am done with Lewis and Clark I will be going more for performance than scale realism.

And I didn't think of this- would I need a pump for the water cooling? Or will it move throughout the water cooling on the motor and ESC all by itself.
