Default Newbie question...please dont flame!! LOL

Im in the process of getting my driveline figured out and I had a thought run across my mind about the drive cable....what keeps the drive cable/flex cable from just sliding its way out of the boat?? Is there some type of set screw or collar with a set screw that you would tighten on the engine output shaft that holds it in place while its spinning the prop?

the collet hold the cable to the engine and you could add a Wheel collar / shaft saver the cable so it doesn't slide out if that comes loose. I sent you a Reply PM and I will add one & a drive dog to all the stuff for free if that works

Let's see if I have something in a nitro sized collet setup.

I don't see a shaft saver on either of those picts, and all of my boats have the shafts out of them for storage, but in a nutshell its a small round clamp that clamps around the shaft to keep it from sliding out incase your cable breaks or come loose at the collet. I put some parts together to give you an idea.

I was in the same boat, not having one fully ready to go as I've been reworking the engine mounts, stuffing tube and radio box on the boat I pictured and didn't think about the shaft saver as it wasn't part of the original question

Zippkits sells the 1/4" cable savers which I'm guessing that you'd need when using a nitro or gas motor in a hull with 5" rails. A little hint though if you buy from Zippkits, go into the replacement part section for the JAE 'riggers and you can get a better price on a set of four as they're used for boom tubes on the JAE .12. Joe Petro just had an appendectomy so might not be able to fill your order for a week or two.
No, we're not going to flame you, it's actually a great question!

A small piece of silicone tubing stretched over the flex works great. 100 times cheaper and does not mar the flex with a set screw.

That's what's nice about the ones that Joe and some others sell is that they don't use a set screw but instead compress the collet around the cable.

You guys might want to go back and look at my picture and tell me if you see a set screw.
