Default fm boat radio and kill switch?

I run a 51" boat with G-23cc Zenoah. I use a pistol grip remote as that what the boat came with.

It was setup by the previous 2 owners. When you push the trigger fwd it cuts the engine off immediately. Pull back and its full throttle. I imagine the when you throw the trigger fwd it cuts the air off to the carb and kills the engine.

I do not think you need anything more than that. The stop of the motor is instant.

I need to get practice bringing the boat in. I always cut the motor too soon. I am affraid to run it straight in. It seems to move fast under idle even.

Bob,

There are a few places to get a kill switch bout what Chris gave you for a link is good to go.

as for stick radio's you have the Futaba's;

4EXA 4 Channel, available on Surface frequency for $149.99 at Towers,
the 4YF 4 Channel for $129.99,

or the 3 Channel 3GR-FS 2.4Ghz for $249.99

If you ever plan on racing the boat it must be able to shut the engine down using the transmitter. If you have an idle set screw, toss it. You should be able to stop it by using the throttle alone.
As fat as a 3-channel stick radio, Hi-tec makes the Ranger III, an FM with 2 sticks and a sliding 3rd channel on the upper right side of the case. It has nice nice small receiver with it that has an LED "idiot light" that lets you know that it's on.

Gotta check out the Isamtech switch...not cheap but what about our hobby is. I use one on my 60" Apache.

here is a review on an online gasboat magazine: http://www.modelgasboats.com/Magazin...y_Isamtec.html

I have to agree, its a perty nice system but not at $75 bucks.

there are other Kill switch for 3 times less that will do the job, but if this is what he decides to go for its fine with me.

The simplest 'kill' switch I can think of is a servo and a valve in the fuel line. The valve in a normally closed position, the servo having to be activated to open it. Loss of signal means a dead boat, or just turn the 'ignition' switch off. Will that cover all possible situations? No, but it sounds like it should cover most of them. Turn that 'on/off' valve into a 'by-pass' valve and it ought'a work for steam too.
