Default Aquastar 3874-2200KV Question

I want to use this motor for a tug boat. Is there a way to power it down ? Can you take a powerful motor like this and just use less battery power so it runs at a slower rpm ?

Hi Helimark
5S(18.5vollts) is the maximum volt the motor will handle, so, running on 3s or 4s batteries would not be a problem.
You max. rpm would be lower 3S (24420 rpm) or 4S(32560rpm).
You have to use a gearbox if you are running a large prop to get the rpm's or you will fry the motor and ESC.
Battery size 5800mah high C rating that motor is 1200watts.
You would be better to get a lower KV motor and adding a water cooled motor mount, which would give you more motor selection.
