Default Proboat Blackjack9 & Impulse9 runtime

My buddy and I each own both of the Mini Proboats. After fully charging the batteries with the included chargers, none of them runs more than 4-5 minutes. 4 boats, 6 batteries, same results. Anyone here have these boats, and can offer me any isight regarding run time?

What kind of batteries are running, how many packs and how are they wired?

Mine are also similar run time with factory battery's. Try Lipo's. The hard part is finding ones that fit with larger MAH rating. Don

Have you had any luck finding them?

No realy; I had a 2s lipo for a Losi 1: 24 or 1:36 scale that worked but it had an automatic LVC cutoff. I do not use it because it could cut off in the middle of the pond.
The BJ9 has a little more room.Don

I send this question to Horizon Hobby, who represents these boats. And basically their responce was in these sma;; boats 4 to 5 minutes runtime is normal
That is really crappy runtime, so i will just upgrade all my batteries.

Don't forget to check the motor temperature. They may get pretty hot if you go over 5 minutes. Don

If the motors get that hot and they aren't water cooled, I'd look into adding that as well

All electronics were normal temps. Today i made an adapter up, so i can charge the stock batteries on my good chargers. Gonna cycle them a couple times, then run the boats again.

I used my Lipo charger instead of the one provided with the boats, charged them at .3 amp. Now getting 6-7 minutes run time, and a gain in speed. I cant beleive that Horizon doesnt suggest this.

They don't dare suggest charging with the wrong charger! (law suits!) Your results suggest that the charger you were using was not fully charging the battery. Don
