Default When, why, and how to use capacitor packs

New to the boat hobby and I damaged one of 2 batteries whilst running. Assuming it was from overloading the system and running in choppy conditions. I heard that capacitor packs could help level out voltage dips to the esc but I have a couple questions about cap packs that I hope some of y’all know a bit of. I apologize if this is the wrong place to ask this, or if someone already has asked about this.
1. Would capacitor packs reduce battery strain from varying amp draws?
2. Would my batteries be run less hard if they could produce a constant amperage rather than varying amp draws when driving in rough conditions?
3. If capacitor packs are a good solution to my problem, how does one wire them up?
4. How much capacity is too much. Does having a bigger cap pack always mean better?
