Try Dean's Marine kits for 1/96 scale. Expensive, but well worth the effort. If you want 1/144 scale Model Warship Combat, try Swampworks or Battlers Connections. Robbe make real nice RC boats too. Look at their PT boat or their German E-boat as well as their U-boat. I guess it all depends on what you want to build and the scale though.

You can make any plastic kit R/C.
The Academy and Revell kits lend themselves to R/C very well. I am currently working on( along with too many other projects) the conversion of the Revell Schnelleboote to R/C.

Tamiya makes a line of 1/350 kits that lend themselves well to R/C conversion also.
I have seen an Iowa class, and an I believe an Enterprise aircraft carrier running on the pond.
Absolutely gorgeous models, and even better when they run on the pond.
