how do you the figure scale of a boat?

Default how do you the figure scale of a boat?

I'm scratch building a a 27" model boat and the real one is 18'.

18' x 12 /27" = 8 scale is 1/8th or 1 1/2 in to a foot (Must be a small boat originally)
