I've got a 1/8" bore brass tube running from behind the prop, up the stern and then along the boat to the engine in silicone tubing. Am I going to be able to get the water to run through this system like this? If not, how can I? Is there a pump or something that I could use to help the water through?
Many thanks,

If you get good water flow from the prop into the pick up there will be no problem. And if the pick up is positioned behind the prop where it should be, water will flow up it like no tomorrow. Do not use a pump, another thing you will have to worry about breaking.

It is angled so the water flow will go straight into the hole. The only problem is the boat is a shallow-V boat, so the water needs to climb up about 8cm before it reaches the height of the cooling head. That's my concern.

Just keep it the way it is and do some test runs. Do you have a water over-flow hole in the side of your boat? Then, while the boat is going you can see if water is flowing through. If you don't just take the boat for a short pass with the hose sticking out around the height where it will be at the engine. And see if water is flowing out of it. But just try it first, I think it will work because on my boat water has to flow up a 6 inch rudder then go to the motor. If it doesn't work back to the drawing board.
You could also get a transom mounted water pick up that will definitely get water.
Hope that helped!

You don't need to worry about flow, if the pickup is in the right position you''ll get up to 2 Bar of waterpressure.....
