Default Servo that turns indefinitly

Hey guys,

I though that the Boats forum would be the best place to ask this question.....

I am looking fo ra servo that will spin continuously in one direction. I need it to build a sort of "windsheild wiper" linkage to move something back and forth. I looked at the winch servos thinking that they would spinn forever in one direction, but I noticed that they all have a limited number of times they will rotate in one direction. Can these be modified to do what I need? Is there another type of servo I should be looking at?

Thanks!

The rotation of the servo is controlled by a resistor pot. If you turn this pot to one side or another you will get a continuous rotation. You may also remove the pot and place a single resistor to one side.
Depending on the servo determines what size of resistor. The mini's and micro's that I have used in converting to a mini motor/ESC use about 2200 ohms.

Some have a stop on one of the gears on top so if this was removed, it should allow continuous turning. Just a guess.

what about using a servo tester to just cycle the servo back and forth? I know that the cheap Astro Flight Servo tester has a "cycle" function, but the speed is not controllable. I would need to be able to slow down how fast it moves back and forth. Is there a servo tester that allows you to adjust how quickly the servo cycles back and forth?

You can do something similar to this,...only easier.
http://www.microrccenter.com/forum/i...howtopic=15681

If the servo has a full gear with a stop, then just cut the stop away.
Then plug the servo in, and move the potentiometer until the servo is centered.
Glue the potentiometer in place. Then drill out the gear that controls the potentiometer so that it will not change the center. Reassemble the servo. The servo will move back and forth indefinitly or until the transmitter stick is recentered.
