Default Besides your LHS - where do you get your parts?

Besides your LHS - where do you get your parts? I've been in the boating now for a year and maybe there are some outlets for parts that I've never heard of. So what's your top 3 or 5, if you have that many, here in the US. Give me your " I always check xxxx 1st, and they usually have what I need, or " for the strange stuff, I usually check with xxxxxx"

offshoreelectrics.com Shipping is always fast there, and the prices are pretty good.

A guy in Illinois named Gary Preusse. No web site, just phone orders only. I call him, tell him what I need and what it's for and I get the right parts every time at great prices. I'd love to see his house, this guy has a stash of parts, engines and hardware that nobody else seems to have. He's kind of well known, he holds somewhere around 13 IMPBA speed records, kicks butt at races and is one nice person. Every time that I call him, I hang up learning something from him. It's always worth the long-distance phone call for me.
With you being in Illinois, you ought to try him out. 630-279-2451.
Al's Hobby Shop in Elmhurst is another place with lots of boat parts. Talk to Cindy there, this woman has enough boating knowledge to put most of us to shame! She'll kick your butt at the races too!

I can personally vouch for Als in Elmhurst. Been there many times. (Even on my speed dial in my shop.....shhhh...don't tell my wife that!) They also have a website http:/www.alshobbyshop.com Cindy is very knowledgable with boats and helis. If you ever get the chance to go there you will not be dissapointed. They have everything. If you live too far to drive they also will do mail order.

Best regards,
Pete

SUbsinker & Ron - I haven't been very impressed with Al's hobby. Been there a few times and talked to Cindy too. In fact the last time I called and talked to her about 2 weeks ago, I was looking for the white/silver ujoints for the Villan and they didn't even have any - seems like everytime I get the old " we can order that for you" well so can I at tower or someplace

Mostly , now , I use the infamous EBAY ..... get more of my items on the auction block - ( most of the time , CHEAPER too ) since I have now got enough boats to run while waiting for parts for another ... if needed . And if the wait is too long and can't find exactly what I want ... and not in the mood to run one of the other boats , then I run the OFNA ULTRA LX , or a plane ...
( RC'ing is VERY addictive )

Bob, been there. I swore that I'd never go back to trucks but got myself an RC10-GT cheap so my kid would have someone to play with after he got an XTM X-Cellerator for Christmas last year. I thought that I'd try my hand at flying again so I bought 2 backyard flyers to crash. I now have a Duratrax Indy car for a spec class oval racing at one of the LHS's but haven't run that much either. When I have the time and decent weather (a rare combo for me) I head to the pond.
