Default tuned exhaust

Can some one give me a short explaination of what a tuned exhaust pipe is. Does it play tunes or is it tuned to 104.1 Fm or somethin... how is one tuned and tuned to what????

I'm not expert, but it is tuned in that it 's cones, angles and lengths are "adjusted"or designed so to produce maximum scavenge and pressure into the cylinder of the engine at the best time/rate to produce max power.

tuned pipe if tuned right it takes the unbruned raw fuel that gets into the pipe and shoves it back into the engine givin it a boost of power

[8D]Lets see if I can explain it right, you take an engine with no exhaust at all and run it wide open, lets say it turns 1800 rpm. you take a tuned pipe and put it on a little longer than needed, you tach the motor. says it 1800 rpm, you cut a 1/4in off the coupler and tach it again, you do that untill you achieve the max rpm, which you find out by going past it, say you get to 1900 rpm, and the next cut you lose 100 rpm you then know that 1900 is the max. you can usually gain up to a 1000 rpm more than no exhaust which is the least restrictive. All those tuined pipes play a different tune.....
