WATER COOLED HEAD
Hi
I'm building a Crackerbox boat and i am going to use a HPI savage S-25 engine in it. The thing is I am looking for a water cooled head that will fit on the S-25 but I don't what will fit or where to look for one. Can any one help me out.

Terobob,
does the Cooper tubing realy work? I have been thinking about this for a while. We used to do this with smal nitro motors some 20 years ago. Haven't heard anyone going that way since then.
i even wonder if thin Al pipe could be use that is then smeared with heatsink compound.

Yes , it does work . granted .... not as good as a water cooled jug , but it does indeed work . The only thing you really need to make sure of , is that it is a tight snug wrap around the upper part of the jug . ( or get yourself a KOOL KLAMP , if you can find one [&o] )
What I do , is once I get the tubing wrapped tight , I then take some silver solder ( high temp ) and solder the tubing together so that whilst I have it snug around the jug , it stays that way . I solder the upper section to the next lower wind and so on and so forth . I also try to get at least 3 to 4 wraps .

What size pipe? I seem to remember we attacked the old refrigerators to cut out some pipe. It would be about 1/8" diameter.

Just get some copper tubing, aneal the tubing and wrap the head as tight as possiable. Or have the head machined down for a waterjacket.

the S-25 motor is actually manufactured by novarossi. if you find that a novarossi aftermarket head will fit, then you can just order thier watercooled head from thier marine engine to fit your S-25.
