Default servo wire

hi! is it possible to extend a servo wire without buying a servo wire extension? i am thinking of cutting the existing wire and then put a wire (from electrical shop perhaps) between the cut wire and then soldering the connection. thsi way i can use the j-plug. the servo is a standard futaba. is this safe?
thanks a lot

Yep, as long as you can solder ok this will work fine. just don't use wire smaller than the original servo wire. Done it many times myself.

Remember, you need 3 wires. Also remember that any connection is a potential spot for failure. Balsa Products http://www.balsapr.com/ sells wire. They also have servo leads that come with 30cm of wire and a male connector. This might be a little easier, if the wire is long enough, you'll only need one set of solder joints.
