Default silicone tubing

I bought some silicone tubing at my nearest hobby shop because they told me it would provide a good watertide seal for the hatch of my Blast, But I dont know what to do with it.

In the past, I have used silicone caulk to cement the tubing to the top of the water tight box, just inside of the screws. And cement the ends together. When you screw the box down, the tubing wil compress, and form a seal between the top of your water tight box, and the lid.

As far as boat top goes, I have never put more than a couple strips of velcro at key points to hold it in place. I never got much water in the boat, and usually it was coming up the prop shaft. Of course I never flipped a boat either.

It is recommended to put some rigid foam up in the bow of your boat to keep it from sinking. Especially if you are planning on flipping the boat and getting lots of water inside.

I prefer to run my boats without flipping them.

some guys slice one side of the tubing, then slip it around the edges of the hatch. So now when you put the hatch on it acts as a rubber seal ( kinda like a gasket) helping keep water out.

Next time buy some Aquarium tubing. The silicon stuff.

It's 1/10th the price and just as easy to work with. I use it in all the boats I have for cooling lines and protective trim.

Or , if you prefer black color , use some small vacuum tubing , or windshield washer fluid line . ( also very cheap )
