I am located near the Indiana Harbor off of Lake Michigan. I run Sport 20 and 40 Hydro and 21 Mod Tunnelhull. Plus I have a few other non-competition hulls. We run in an overpass pond on US 41 (Indianapolis Blvd.) and Lake George in Hobart, IN most weekends at the boat launch.

RE: boaters in Indiana?
Been running r\c boats since '93.
Run at the pond on 41 in highland, and have ran at lake george in past, but unless you own a full-size craft or at least a john boat, you are *** if it dies in middle of lake.
Have also ran at the lake in dyer(which did'nt last very long) and robinson lake in hobart.
Many places we used to run at,well we have lost due to the noise issues and such.Once had a 55 c.c. converted chainsaw engine in a dumas scarab..what a beast that was!
I run .90 riggers .15 Lil rascal's a sport x hydro and a gas sprint cat and one scale fishing trawler\cutter.

RE: boaters in Indiana?
I'm located in Indianapolis and would also like to find
a group of R/C boaters and a decent pond.
I checked the Indy Admirals website and it SEEMS to
be aimed at R/C scale models, not the more popular
RTR boats. I plan on attending their "Regatta" this
month to get more info.
The closest IMPBA pond (Waterfront) is dead (1 race/
year). More importantly, there doesn't seem to be ANY
interest in hosting "fun runs".
If you're near Indy, feel free to e-mail me about forming
a local club aimed at 20+ mph R/C boats.

Hi Scott,
Try contacting the APBA about their sanction or where most of the guys test full scale outboards...usually there is no noise problems there and attract RC boaters on the same lake. Maybe you can find a good pocket of boaters to hang with.
APBA (Region 7)
INDIANA OUTBOARD ASSOCIATION
9102 N. CENTRAL AVE.
INDIANAPOLIS, IN 46240-1019

RE: boaters in Indiana?
Hi Jeff,
The best thing to do is contact Larry at G&G Hobbies over in Highland and ask where everyone is going lately. Some have moved out to Wolf Lake, and also a cooling pond out by one of the mills. He can explain directions for you and probably give you a couple other guys phone numbers.
Hours: M-F: 9:30am - 6:00pm
Sat: 9:30am - 4:30pm
Sun: Closed
Phone: 219-924-6686 or 708-418-5930

I can't get out consistently to run on the weekends, but when I do go, Lake George is closer to me and I know someone on the lake there where I can dock so it is more convienent for me.

RE: boaters in Indiana?
I see that the people replying to this thread are in northern part of the state. If you happen to be following this and are in So. Indiana, we have a club here in Floyd County. We run at the Huber Winery pond at Starlight, Indiana. We are looking for some more people to come out and run with us. We have some competion boats and some RTR's running. We have an IMPBA sanctioned contest scheduled for August 18th. The name of the club is Southern Indiana Propnuts. The location of our pond is 19816 Huber Rd, Starlight, In 47106. (Mapquest it) Look forward to seeing some new faces!

Stu Barr and Bruce Jacobs are both in Indy area. They are the ones that set up the Indy Master race held in September. Both can be contacted through the forums at International waters. Or look on the IMPBA web site under District 14. www.impba.net
