Default Castle Creations Barracuda 80amp ESC?

Hi,

Well, just a bit curious, if anybody has any experience about using
Castle Creations Barracuda 80amp boat ESC?

In CC web page I could not find any pics/statement about
cooling?

I was thinking this ESC for Equipage Monaco 100 ,semiscale Riva mahogany speed boat, equipped
with Flyware Shark-20 BL-motor(up to apprx 900W power), 5 or 6 lipos 4000mAh or so.
And definately I need reverse, as it is scale boat, it looks there is not so many 20cell boat speed controllers available for a bit higher power levels?

I do know, that 80A ESC is a bit overkill for this motor/boat set-up, but it is intented to use later
in bigger boat project.

Many thanks & BR,
Hannu

I have the unit Castle Creations Barracuda 80 putting it in my Italeri PT
It definitely has reverse programmable to be either 25/50 or 100% of forward speed.
It has a gentle start feature for geartrain preservation
The optional programmer is a plus for all the settings available.
I have not yet run it in water yet to see if it needs any cooling.

Hi,

Yes, it is problem to find enough high voltage/high amp boat controller, even schulze is limited to 18 cells, at least those in "reasonable" priced ones.
In the past on my big electric planes I had nothing but troubles with schulze ESC´s ( 1,5KW and up set-ups), and also I think schulze price/quality -wise they
are far from reasonable.

By CC manual it says, like Jshander mentioned,Barracuda 80A has 4 different reverse modes.

It feels to be quite good solution for my project, only question mark is cooling issue. In Finedesign website was saying something
about this lack of Barracuda cooling, that they do not deliver those at this moment. But, on the other hand, as it goes to relative slow
41" scale boat, it is not intented to drive full power all the time, unlike competition high speed boats.

any good priced source for CC Barracuda?

Thanks & Br,
Hannu
