Magnetic hatches?!

Hi all
Im thinking of securing my hatches on my ship using mini magnets and a small metal bar for the magnet to grab,on each hatch,
dose anyone know where i can get a small ( Not powerfull) magnet(s) ( IN THE United Kingdom)

Edmond scientific has some great magnets and I think they ship to UK.

How is adding something going to compensate for added wieght? Dont you mean remove something? Besides, we're not talking about a huge hunk of metal here, just a few button magnets. You probably wont even notice how much higher up the water sits.

Aah, but iron ores are subject to magnetic fields. Most iron ores are located below ground. There really is ground under all that water. So, the magnets will tend to 'pull' down more than just their own weight, you see? By adding stuff between the magnet and the iron ore, you lessen the magnetic attraction. That's why those metal skull caps work so well! But first you have to remember to wear them.

Actually, the magnetic forces will add weight, especially if you are in a lake with a higher iron content

I meant add flotaion to the hatch.
