Default Boat Design

Can any of you guys help me?

The company I work for and I know very little about RC Boats have set me the challenge of being part of a team designing and tooling a Radio Control Boat in China. I have a group of people that understand Radio Control and for my boss I do not wish to look silly so I am hoping you guys can help.

One of the large Japanese toy firms listed here has offered to make boats, though I have been asked to look at making the boats in-house. The team understand basic radio control and micro electronics as we are involved in designing consumer products in China using pic ship technology. What we have no experience of is Radio Control as it is a new field for our company?

I need to learn about the following:-

Companies that can assist with boat and hull design?
Advice on possible suppliers of RC parts related to boats in Asia and around the world?
List of experts and hopefully guys on here that can help with design or suggest companies around the world?
The only factory I have been told to look at is http://www.futaba.co.jp have you any others to start the project.
I must cost parts needed to make our desired boat?
Looking at water jet systems and propeller systems for steering and navigation?
I have 4/6 Months to develop products and we do have access to 3D Cad within our organisation though no experience of boat design?

I also have access to a 50,000/100,000 square foot factory in China that specialise in injection moulding and tooling, that is partly controlled by my boss if the product was made in our factory.

I thank you in advance for your time.

So you're asking if anyone has knowledge of a US or other country that has dedicated r/c boat manufacturers that would help you and your boss design and manufacture a boat line that since you have access to a large manufacturing facility, would be mass produced and introduced into the US and world market. Most of the people that make boat hulls in the US and elsewhere put a lot of time and money into research and devolopment of their product.I myself don't feel that any US or other country based r/c boat manufacturer would want to cut their own throat by aiding the possible competition.Find what style boats you want to make and do it like everyone else, without making it the same as an already available boat hull. That's called splashing.Your boss isn't doing this to have some fun, that is with what would be involved in time and money to get started up as a manufacturer ,he's out to make a lot of money back on his investment, which I can understand.Good luck in your venture, but I doubt very much you will find much help. These are my opinions and not that of RCU.

No help here!
I worked for a company for 30 years and they just packed up and moved to China.
Too young to retire and my job prospect's look pretty grim.

a lot of the boats i see coming out of china are poorly put together using cheap, low quality materials and hardly looked like they took the time to plan the boat out, and much less even tested them before putting them in the market....so i would put some more time into refining your desgin before selling it...

another thing that would help out is what age group is this aimed for and, and what price range would the finial product fall in...

I think with little effort in most search engines you will find there already many (some may say too many) boats of low or no quality coming out of China.

While this may be an opportunity for "us" who love this hobby with a deep passion to help "you" the manufacturer to make a better product. At the end of the day I know that any valuable quality advice provided will likely be discarded during a meeting where the almighty cost/benifit analysis comes into play and your profit margin will out weigh our quality and service expectation.

Tell you what - if your serious you are going to want more advice than any post in a web forum will deliver. I am available as a consultant. I have 20+ years experience in this hobby. An MBA, experience as a design engineer, experience with Chinese manufacturers, sales, and the US market. I can manage this project womb to tomb and deliver a product into the US that is actually worth buying. You can e-mail me through this site
