Default RC Skier

I built this guy as a joke because I was told I couldn't do it...HA! When I first saw it "run" I could not stop laughing. So, I borrowed a GI Joe figure from my nephew glued up his knees and elbows in a skiing position. My goal was to be as scale as possible, so the guy just floating up on the water was not good enough. I made some skis out of 1/8" polycarbonite I had laying around and mounted the guy to them. I then glued some foam peices to the front of the skis to keep the tips up like you do when you start from the water. I also glued a "life jacket" on the guy so his head would be above water. It was really funny because I didn't expect it to work so well. It is flawless...punch it and he's up and out and really skiing on top of the water and he can take waves too, now that I re-designed the skiis a second time. He's actually quite stable and rarely crashes even in pretty rough water. If he does crash, I just have to wait a second so he floats back into take off position and away he goes. Here's a real quick vid of him skiing by.

They sure can. We kind of did the look over your shoulder before we brought it down to the water to test it because we thought that it would be a little funny seeing some 30+ yr. guys at the water with a toy boat pullin' a GI Joe. Definatly worth the hr. it took to build because it is just so funny to watch.

You need to put a fishing hook off the back of th eskier because sooner or later a big old Bass is sure to go after the water skier.

that is a pretty good bass lake too.

Max Speed Well, as fast as a 7 cell Zig Zag. [8D]

...and after reviewing the vid I realize we need better video with some sun on him.

I don't know if he'd handle more speed. Here's another clip of him...

hey jdoug, the zig zag add says it comes with 6-cell 7.2V 900mah Ni-MH. you mentioned a 7-cell in yours, did you change yours or did you hit the wrong #. i was checking out your video, and thought it was cool. so i checked out those boats and found that difference in batts. thanks

if you did make a parasailer, you could release the guy from the boat instead of the water.

you could wrap the chute up and stuff it in a small pack/box and use a smaller chute to pull it out of the box when you reach speeds.

an rc wench would be cool, then you could control his accent/decent and bring him back to the boat.

enough patience...It literally took me about an hour to complete from an idea to ready to go. Although I did spend another 20 min. building a newly designed set of skis because the first pair hooked a little when turning.

He doesn't wreck anymore unless you try to go fast....well, Zig Zag fast.

If you are serious about wanting one, PM me.
