s in our said hn uses brass shaftsBrass shaft
One of the members in our club says brass shafts work well.
I have 4 ss shafts 2 from dumas and 2 from Mack, also 3 brass shafts. all 3 brass shafts are straighter than any of the ss ones and run smoother.
Has anyone used brass shafts enough to find out how well they will last, Thanks, Randy

My converted Lindberg trawler recently had its 20th birthday. The original brass rod shaft running in plastic (cotton bud tube) bearings is still going strong. Handy, because the home-made brass prop soldered to it very easily. Larger size/higher power, dont know. Dont use aluminium tubing as bearings. You get electrolysis and a seized shaft.

I plan to use the brass shafts with Dumas brass or bronz bushings, what ever they are made of, any input is nice, Thanks, Randy
