something BIG springs to mind, going fast over the waves is ok but if you catch the waves wrong at speed you could have a rescue on your hands, as a result I'd say get something that is more likely to plough through the waves, such as a big trent or severn class lifeboat made by model slipway, or as daft as it sounds a short boat like the crab boat that Graupner do.

I'm guessing you want something a bit faster than a tug boat. Cats are a goog choice for light chop. If you can afford it a gas deep V would be even better.

I dont want to spend the coin on a gas boat for my first boat. I do like the cat hull and would like to stay below 500.00

If you are getting a first boat, Go with the supervee 27 Brushless. With 3600 6cells batteries. That is my first boat and I couldnt be any happier. Cuts through wakes a few inches tall with no problem. Also fun driving behind out wakeboard boat and jumping it. Does well lol
