Default stinger or struts

I am a new to the boat world. Ill be building a ez vee and have been doing a lot of reading and got a couple of questions.

What is the differance between a stinger and a strut?

From what i have read the stinger has some ajustability to it.

Stringer is inside boat while strut is outside the boat. Stringer is mainly for gas or nitro like railroad tracks in the center area for mounting engines. Strut is the area where drive line goes into strut and into the prop,. I believe more reading is needed thru booklets purchased thru RC. store of Boat Modellers magazine. The info you want can't be found on the forum or in magazines, at least of what i've seen.

This is a Stinger drive system:

Stinger drive are surface drive system.

Struts are mounted on the transom with a bracket or through the hull before the transom wall.

what you need depends on the type of boat, I will not venture at telling you which one you need since I am uncertain of which one you need for the Ez vee, I don't want to induce you in error.

Guess i' wrong, never heard of this stinger in all my life. Actually is a strut. I bet it is from overseas and by the looks isn't for the faint of heart on the price tag either.

This how you may want to setup your Ez vee:\

Default RE: stinger or struts

I've recently started using stingers instead of struts. The last 3 boats that I've built are using them. They've been a big learning curve for me as the prop generally sits further back than th4e conventional strut setup. What needs to happen is that the stinger needs to sit higher on the transom as the water flow coming off the bottom of the hull will be higher the further back that the prop is. Ever look over the transom of a full-sized boat at speed?
The stinger on the Aquacraft Super-Vee 27's are one example. The Warehouse Hobbies SPD's are also stinger-type struts. Speedmaster make them, the ones that I've been using.

Both are adjustable, it just depends on your preference.

no, that is someone elses boat.

There are some pros and cons regarding dual rudder setup, some swear by it others prefer a single rudder.

Do a search on the subject, I am pretty sure it has been covered already, my personal opinion, I see no real advantages with a dual setup.
