OK so i'm rather new to rc boating, been mostly in the air and on the ground- now i want to venture seaward!
I'm in the process of building a Elco PT Boat, from plans that were in a issue of Model Boat about 10 years back.
Its a 1/35th scale sized boat, semi-scale and about 30inchs in length.
The planns call for a 540-600 size motor, and i am wanting to put a brushless motor on.
Is it possible to put a brushless airplane/helicopter outrunner brushless on here. I want to run a 6cell NI-Cd pack on it as I have a couple of these already. What size/ power (Kv rating?) brushless should I run as a replacement for a speed 540 brushed motor?
Any help please. Advice?

Hi Alouette,
Something like this would work: https://www.unitedhobbies.com/UNITED...hless_Inrunner
As the hull is closed, I'd prefer an inrunner, as it's easier to watercool it.
You could use an outrunner, but finding one that would spin slow enough might be a challenge, they have plenty of torque, but would have to be oversized to compensate for the lack of cooling.
Regards, Jan.
