Hey,don't knock sail boats. I can use a sail boat in ponds that you can't use power boats, no noise,no danger to people in the water. Larry

Hey, I live in the Boston area. Am currently working on a 1/10 scale crackerbox, building it from scratch. I have a lot of work to go still on it but I am enjoying it. Nice to know there are other RC boaters in the area!

Where are you sailing your crackerbox, Fredi28?

I am showing up at the Charles River Storrow Lagoon (MGH Red line Stop) for their sailboats..That's a sweet boating place built specifically for model boats!!! Right now I am in the middle of waterproofing the prop shaft with Marine Grease and trying to get an esc for a starter speed boat, but it won't keep up with a crackerbox...[link=http://www.esplanadeassociation.org/thingstodo/model_sail_aboutus.html#bmscCalendar]http://www.esplanadeassociation.org/thingstodo/model_sail_aboutus.html#bmscCalendar[/link]

Wow I did not know they had any sort of races around the New England area. Are they a yearly event? If so that is exciting news and it will give me a goal to work towards for next years races. This is actually my first build, i am a new RC Boater but am quickly becoming more and more passionate about the hobby. I'm sure once i finish my C Box that will only increase. Any tips on what type of a set up I should use regarding the motor, and other hardware? Once mine is finished we'll have to meet up and run them together!

I'm actually not sure yet, it isn't even close to done at the moment, I am a first time builder so it will probably take quite a while. I might try and run it in Spy Pond in Arlington though, not aware of any regulations on that pond and it's close by.

If you visit the North American Model Boat Association web site and look at District 11 under "Districts" you'll find several New England area races. Connecticut two events, New Hampshire two events and Maine.

Don't worry about the regulations...as long as you don't disturb wildlife such as ducks and geese you are fine..

Believe there is an RC sailboat exibition at the Mystic Seaport (Mystic CT) today (Sat and possibly Sunday)> I was thinking of heading down but not sure if I am allowed out to play today - headed to Patchogue-Long Island Sunday to watch the offshore races Sunday.

Why do you want to get IMPBA sanction for your proposed club. New England is primarily NAMBA. Going with IMPBA will hinder your ability to attract other boaters to your races and will limit your members that want to attend races in the N.E. area unless they hold dual memberships.
Some day the governing bodies of both organizations will get smart and combine NAMBA and IMPBA for the betterment of all.
