My dad has an old Graupner Electro Vee. How do I find out how many amps the speed control is? It's the old mechanical kind, lol. There is no writing or anything on it. Is there a test that I can do to find out? I'll try to post some pics up later.
Also how do you find the max amps a battery will give out? Nimh or nicads not lipos.

I have an Electro Vee and pulled the mechanical control out in favor of a 700 motor and a Jeti Navy 60 amp ESC.Those Cherry microswitches are rated at 10.1 amps each so at low speed and reverse you have 10 amps and at high speed you have 20 amps total.Since it is 3:1 reduction it doesn't pull a lot of amps-the motor is a 550 size Johnson and those Graupner gears get brittle and have a tendency to explode!I know because that's what mine did!By the way,the outdrive is almost identical to a Traxxas Villain should you need to replace it someday. The Vee is a great hull if you want to upgrade the power system.Your dad must have put a custom wing on the hull because I haven't seen one before.[8D]

Yea, he did everything himself. He also made the engine cooler. Thanks for the help. He wants to get his boat running again so he can race my supervee 27, lol wish him luck.

That's mean!
Your dad has a snowball's chance in hell, to catch up with your supervee, unless you flip it every two laps...
He'll have to upgrade like Sportygreg describes, much more will eat up the steering outdrive in a few runs.
Have fun you two!
Regards, Jan.

Yea, it should be a blast for me at least. All of his nicds are dead because he hasn't used them in years. I just ordered 2 nimhs for him, so we can't race until they come in. I can't wait lol.
