when priming my mvvs 58 gas engine by closing the choke and flipping the prop, gas is sprayed vigorously back out the carburetor.
gas is not being sucked into the crankcase like it is supposed to.
this engine has reed valves, and i have replace old ones with new ones.
has anyone had a similar experience?
any help is appreciated

this may be a dumb point, but are the intake reed valves pointing towards the cylinders, so that they only allow air into the engine, and not out?
