Default Vintage Boat from 1940's.....???

Hey guys! I need someone to tell me a few things about this boat. I know nothing about boating and was hoping someone could identify this ship.

Here's what I would like to know:

It's a steam engine: what is it called (manufacture, name....any facts)

The boat: was it a kit, plans, and what kind of boat is it?

The radio: old as they come.....what kind of radio are they working with?

I'm lost and trying to help a widow sell this ship. Don't know what's it's worth....would love to know and tell her.

Thanks,
Joe

Default RE: Vintage Boat from 1940's.....???

I'm no spring chicken but that boat is way ahead of my time! The widow should know a lot more than 99.99% of us here.
The steam engine could have been home-made as a lot of them in that era were as was possibly the radio system. That appears to be an escapement system used for the rudder. The transmitters of that time looked more like a small radio station with antennas mounted on the ground.
To a vintage boat and radio freak it could be worth a lot of money. The problem is finding those people. I wish that I could help to point you in the direction of those people. It imght be worth a shot to try Google or some other search engine. The only time that I run across anyone would might have a clue is in the swap meet area at the Toledo show. There are a few that deal with vintage boats. I need to find out where they hang out at online.

Well, we decided to let it go on ebay. Hoping to bring this widow lady some money out of this, so please help her out!
