Default rc vet, boating newbie

i've had rc trucks for a few years now, nitro and electric. the other day, a friend of mine gave me a couple of boat hulls. I don't even know where to begin. all i can say is that they are fiberglass, deep vee's (i think), with a piece of balsa wood in the floor. they are both 36 inches long, and about a foot wide. i'd like to make them working models. i've never built an rc boat. i have no clue whether to go nitro or electric. perhaps one of each! either way, i don't know what size motor to put in what size boat, nothing about props, etc.

i'm hoping for a couple tips on where to start, maybe a few links to good basic info. i've included a couple pics/links. thanks for your time and patience.
