so i got this boat from a friend of mine and im not to sure on who made it or what engine i should install. the boat is gutted and has never been put together. it is 38" long the beam is 11" and the stringers are set at 5" apart. it is fairly shalow only 4" from deck to bottom of the hull. on the bottom of the transom there arereaseced areason each side about 4"X1" for what i think would be cavatation plates. the bottom of the hull only has 1 chime per side. im new to boats so any info on what or how i should build this would be great. i do have a old kyosho boat like a jet 1000 or something it has a .32 in it but i cant find parts so i was gonna use what i can from it.

Very interesting hull you've got there! The deck sort of looks like an old Steve Muck but the bottom has me confused. The ride pad is clear but the right side of the bottom is where it's going to throw a lot of people off. It could have been a prototype or a hull that not too many were made of. Five inch wide rails are also kind of unusual for a hull that short, most in that size would have 4" rails.

well here are some better pictures. im just woundering what set up might be best for it. all the hardwear kits seem to be for deep v's and this thing is more like a shallow v. and im woundering how it will handle being so shallow. it reminds me of my buddies jet boat. just not sure what to do with it.

it almost looks like a jet boat hull with the delta on the bottom. You might try seeing if it is by poping into the jetboat thread and asking there.

Those shots are MUCH better! I've seen that hull somewhere else before put still can't place it. It's not the ride pad that I remembered but the insets in the bottom for the trim tabs that got the gears going again.
The ride pad was used by Microburst for a while but then removed. The deck still has the Muck Spartan look to it though.
For what I'd guess for the generation that this hull was built, sometime in the late`80's to early `90's that it still used a subsurface drive. A jet drive won't fit into the small ride pad.

so for what it is, what engine and drive unit do you guys think would be best for it? im just not sure how it will handle with the shallow hull. do you think a .32 is big enough for it or should i go bigger? i do know i will have to make custom mounts because of the 5" spreat on the stringers unless i went with a 26cc engine

For nitro the size is more .45 >.90
Throwing in a PUM231 will make it run cheaper.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh ..... a 231 for the smaller props / higher reving for this 38"hull.
Makes it an easier to handle boat.
To benefit the Delta / Ridepad ... buy a [link=http://www.whhonline.com/product_p/xp2p.htm]inline drive/rudder[/link] (instead of a rudder on the right)
And give that an offset of 5/32" to the right.
