i want to build a boat to put my line on and take my bait way far out from the beach. i have a homelite i plan on using. speed doesnt really matter. my main question is what style of hull should i use. i only plan to use it on those dead calm summer days. figured it would be a neat way to fish forr tarpon and kingfish off the beach. any suggestions? i was thinkin doin a stern drive (i think its called) rather than a surface drive. that way i can tow the line behind the boat with no tangles.

Even what you think of as a flat calm day will be considerably tougher conditions for a model. Towing a line and the weight of the tackle, and overcoming the effects of any current might need more performance than a first look would suggest. Look up on Kort nozzles and springer models - base the design on an enlarged springer and increase to power accordingly, and not only should you be able to take the line out, you should be able to get the boat back for another try.
BTW, the link didn't work.

ben,
how much are you willing to spend?
the flybridge from expresscraft is $300 for the Hull only.
you can also use the search function at the bottom of each Forum and look up rc fishing or bait boat, that should bring you a fair amount of returns since it has been covered and asked a few times.

I use my old Kyosho 800 Majesty with 6 D cell ni-cads and a third channel that moves a rod up and down on the stearn of the boat. The metal rod (when up) will hold my swivel on my fishing line and then I ,ove the rod down to release the line. Other times I just put the line in the back of the deck and drag it out, then flip it off the boat when I'm ready to drop the line or reel in the lure. My avatar is my Kyosho 800 Majesty fishing boat I picked up from a local hobby shop a long time ago and converted it to my fishing boat.
