What Prop size?

I need to find a good propeller for a custom boat I am making. I will be using this motor:http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...roducts_id=256

And I will be using it in a pretty tubby 20 inch balsa wood boat. I need to find a good propeller to use with it.
I was looking at this one
http://www.horracing.com/product_inf...roducts_id=358
Would it work?

Thanks, ZAne<br type="_moz" />

RE: What Prop size?

You do realize that prop is for racing, don't you? If you can post a picture of the boat, it would be very helpful as your "tubby" desciption makes it sound like you're dealing with a tug style hull for which that prop is totally inappropriate

RE: What Prop size?

it may be much better to go with a motor with much less Kv.
the one you are looking at is a 2881Kv, 2881 rpm per 1 Volt and the minimum votage according to the site is 9.6 volts, that would give you a bit over 27000 rpm.
seems to be way to many R's for that type of boat. am I correct to believe that the boat you are making is for very slow speed?

I think that a 4 blade prop (maybe 5) similar of one use on tugs would be more appropriate for the boat.
you could also ask the same question into the Speed electric or the RC warship forum.

Dan.

Zanek, Did you post your question in the fats electric section?

I cant help as I have no experience w/electric motors, but from the video you posted for speed, it looks like you want to go about 15-20mph.
