Dumb question of the day....

Now for the rookie question of the day...

Why is it that the real-life hydroplanes race in a counter or anti-clockwise pattern, but yet the r/c scale units are setup to run a clock-wise pattern?

RE: Dumb question of the day....

I think it's because when they started using model airplane engines for boats they spin counterclockwise when mounted to the transom (which is still the same today) its easier for the boat to make right hand turns.
There is an electric club in Washington that races boats counterclockwise like the real thing. I'm not sure if they run the motors the opposite way or not.

Interesting...of all the reasons I could come up, the model engine direction of rotation was not one of them! Thanks for the info...
